The Institute of Contemporary Art  opened their brand new location in the Design District on Friday December 1 2017 just in time for art week.  It is free all year round!  Pieces exhibited included those from contemporary masters like Picasso. Check out the schedule below and visit their website (click link above) for special events like a family day celebration with a Caribbean parade on Sunday.

Overload at Vizcaya

Vizcaya Museum and Gardens presents Overload, the latest exhibition from their Contemporary Arts Program (CAP) exhibition on view December 6, 2017 through April 2, 2018.

The display is a multi-sensory exchange between visitor and house.  It will include the felt and plastic installation from Tanja Smeets above meant to induce one’s tactile senses. Arnout Meijer is another Dutch artists participating. He explores the relationship between sight and light with colored films placed over the massive waterfront windows at the estate in 46020 ft3 cyan/yellow.  David Brooks’ Of Discriminating Artistic Feeling consists of three massive cages places throughout the museum. They are invoke the animals Deering kept at the estate, including owls, doves, monkeys and macaws, who made noise that bothered the wealthy industrialist.  Finally, Orlando Jacinto Garcia will produce an orchestrated melodic track in Deconstructed Strings that will be motion activated for those passing by the antique music room.

Check out the extravagant multi-sensory exhibit, the final one curated by Gina Wouters.

An opening night event will be held December 5, 2017 from 7:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. where guests can meet the artists and have a first-look at the exhibition. Tickets for opening night are $10 for the general public.

Come get a different perspective at the MOCA. Museum of Contemporary Art North Miami Presents How to Unlock a Portal by photographer Jacob Felländer Dec. 7, 2017 – Feb. 11, 2017. Felländer’s groundbreaking U.S. debut explores virtual reality.

Felländer gives you a visual journey by traveling through a fusion of virtual reality, painting, photography, and sculpture.  Grand opening Thursday, December 7, 2017 at 6:00PM. Cost is $10 per person; $5 to MOCA members and North Miami Residents. Visit MOCA’s website for more information.

Yoga Meets Art

Many will tell you that yoga is indeed itself an art. While there is a basic palate of poses to chose from, there is a method and madness to the flow each teacher gives his or her class.  YogArt knows these two go tother like peaches and cream (vegan). Some of the best yoga teachers like Dawn B will lead students to awaken their inner artists with live music from Gaura Vani and Mayapuris at a special YogArt Basel at the Perez Art Museum  The event will take place on December 9, 2017. Tickets for YogArt Basel are $35 and are available online (links below) in advance, as well as on-site the day of the event (subject to availability). Mats will be provided but are limited. A portion of the proceeds generated from YogArt ticket sales go to support local Design District Miami-Dade Magnet High School, DASH

RaNü! the Vibes, the Art, and the Culture

NTR.SOL, NappyVegan, Stones and Nad Pitt present a different art basel “Inspirience” they call “ourbasel.”  It’s a spirited and restorative space in the midst of art basel, featuring a collective of some of the most high energy and intent filled creatives.  Enjoy a soulful channeling of artistry, music, and vibes- a divine alignment during #OurBasel.
