Author: Monica Torres

I have been writing about the local arts and culture since January 2013. My articles have been featured in Miami New Times, Tropicult, Art Slant, Art Slant Street, and miamiartzine. I earned an MFA in Creative Writing (Poetry) in 2017 and (Non-fiction) in 2024. During my graduate studies, I served as a Teaching Assistant and wrote a manuscript, Moon Over Miami. Two of my poems about the Magic City are published in Sinking City Literary Magazine. My passion for teaching eventually landed me the position of Lecturer in Writing Studies at The University of Miami. I also love animals, vegan food, yoga, painting and singing. Thank you for reading.
